another Code of Virginia volume 11 notice
    Happy New Year!

    (a) make a false statement of fact or law; or
    (b) fail to…[Read more]

VA Code error corrections to expect –
Yesterday we received boxes with reprinted copies of the 2022 Supplements for 13 volumes of the Code, a new copy of volume 8A and an errata sheet for volume 8. As with the earlier distribution of a replacement Volume 11 (Rules), these items replace “faulty” supplementation. I assume everyone who has a set…[Read more]

VA Code 2021 replacement volumes – supplement printing errors
This week we noticed the 2022 supplements to v. 1B, 4, 5 and 6B had the prior year’s replacement volume date on them.
Interestingly, v. 3 was correct. I let editorial at LexisNexis/Matthew Bender know.
    Just fyi,
    Victoria Levy

I’ve noticed that the Virginia Code Commission refers to session laws that won’t be incorporated into the Code of Virginia as “Section 1” bills. Does anyone happen to know where this name came from? I’m not seeing any obvious legislative explanation – section 1-1 of the code doesn’t make sense for the reference, and neither does Section 1 from the…[Read more]

    • I’ll hazard a guess that it may be because the bill is numbered starting with § 1 rather than with the code section it is adding or amending. I found these code commission minutes that also refer to a bill that was ultimately codified (presumably under 30-148) as a section 1 bill.…[Read more]
